Food Sensitivity Testing
Identify the foods quietly fueling inflammation, joint pain, and chronic symptoms — and finally remove them.
What is Food Sensitivity Testing?
Food sensitivity is different from food allergy. A true allergy (IgE-mediated) is immediate, dramatic, and well-recognized. Food sensitivities are delayed-onset, low-grade immune reactions — typically IgG or IgA mediated — that drive chronic symptoms like joint pain, headaches, fatigue, GI complaints, and skin issues without an obvious cause-effect relationship to specific meals.
Food sensitivity testing measures your antibody response to dozens of common foods, identifying which ones are generating chronic immune activation. Combined with an elimination-and-reintroduction protocol — still the clinical gold standard — testing accelerates the process of pinpointing which foods are actually contributing to your symptoms.
At Functional Restoration Institute we use food sensitivity testing as a tool, not a final answer. Results inform a structured elimination protocol; symptom response during the elimination is what confirms which foods are clinically meaningful.
Benefits
Benefits of Food Sensitivity Testing
Identifies non-obvious triggers
Foods you eat regularly — and have no obvious reaction to — are often the ones driving low-grade chronic inflammation.
Reduces inflammation systemically
Removing reactive foods often produces measurable reductions in joint pain, headaches, GI symptoms, and energy issues.
Speeds up elimination protocols
Testing narrows the field, making elimination diets more targeted, faster, and less restrictive than guessing.
Personalized to you
Food sensitivities are individual — what triggers symptoms in one patient is harmless in another. Testing gives you your specific list.
Pairs with gut healing
Food sensitivities and gut barrier dysfunction often go together — addressing both produces results neither does alone.
Your Visit
What to Expect at FR Institute
Most food sensitivity panels use a finger-prick blood sample collected at home with the included kit. Results return in 2–3 weeks. We review findings in a dedicated visit and design a structured elimination plan — typically 6–8 weeks removing reactive foods, followed by methodical reintroduction to confirm which ones meaningfully affect your symptoms.
We also coordinate gut healing strategies in parallel, since intestinal barrier dysfunction is often a root cause of why sensitivities developed in the first place.
